OLPH GLENDALE

Student Life

Discover a school environment that supports spiritual growth, creativity, curiosity, and real friendships — all in one place.

As a parent, you want to be sure your child is seen and challenged in all the right ways. You’re wondering if they’ll be surrounded by strong values, given space to explore their talents, and supported by a community that feels like an extension of your own.

At Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School in Glendale, those concerns are understood and built into the rhythm of our students’ daily lives. They take part in meaningful traditions, engage deeply through STREAM (Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, and Arts), and grow in character through both quiet moments of prayer and active leadership in the classroom.

Because here at OLPH Glendale, we make it a point to see each student for who they are — and to challenge them, every day, to pursue their fullest potential.

catholic formation

At OLPH Glendale, faith inspires the flow of the day, from morning prayers to weekly Mass. Students mark the seasons of the Church through rosaries, feast day celebrations, and shared devotions. Our faith formation practices give children a steady rhythm of worship and reflection that grows with them year by year.

Practicing Faith Every Day

Students pray together in the morning, at midday with the Angelus, before meals, and at day’s end. Each classroom has a prayer corner where children pause for reflection.

Celebrating Sacraments & Traditions

Weekly Mass, monthly rosaries, and frequent opportunities for confession are part of school life. Third graders prepare for First Communion, and the community honors feast days through plays, processions, and liturgical events that bring Catholic traditions to life.

Catholic traditions include:

  • Stations of the Cross during Lent
  • May Crowning
  • Last Supper play
  • All Saints Day Parade (Wax Museum)
  • Christmas and Easter Programs
  • Eucharistic Adoration on Fridays
  • Celebration of feast days throughout the year
Leading with Faith in Community

Older students guide younger ones by hosting rosaries, serving at Mass, and taking active roles during the liturgical year. Through our various Catholic traditions and events, students practice leadership rooted in God’s truth.

arts, athletics, & activities

Learning stretches far beyond the classroom. Students create, compete, and collaborate in ways that help them discover their talents and connect with their community.

Exploring the Arts

At OLPH Glendale, students have space to express themselves. The art studio includes a professional kiln, giving students the chance to design ceramic projects like class-made rosaries. Music classes take place in a room built for performance, complete with mirrored walls for choir or dance practice, and instruments ranging from guitars to pianos. Seasonal programs such as the Christmas and Easter performances let students share their talents with the wider school community.

Competing and Playing in Athletics

Athletics are a proud part of OLPH Glendale student life. The campus includes indoor and outdoor courts, a spacious field for flag football and baseball, and facilities for volleyball and basketball. The school’s commitment to teamwork and discipline is reflected in its athletic successes, such as a girls’ basketball championship win that remains a proud milestone. Parent volunteers often step in as assistant coaches, creating an environment where skills and community spirit grow side by side.

International Network & Summer Experiences

Student life at OLPH Glendale extends beyond the school year and even beyond the country. Through our International Network, students participate in a long-standing exchange with a partner school in South Korea. This program allows them to welcome visiting peers to Glendale and later travel abroad for a cultural and educational experience that broadens their perspective and strengthens global connections.

In addition, the summer experiences at OLPH keep students engaged and inspired outside of the traditional academic calendar. Options have included summer school in reading, math, and science, as well as clubs and hands-on projects that prepare children to start the new school year with confidence.

Events & Traditions

Life at OLPH Glendale is filled with celebrations that bring students, faculty, and families together. Our aim is to give children a sense of belonging while strengthening the community around them.

All-School Events

Throughout the year, students and families gather for school-wide events that create joy and connection. These occasions give everyone a chance to celebrate together outside of the classroom.

Highlights include:

  • Mother/Daughter Tea
  • Pet Blessing (October)
  • All Saints Day Parade (Wax Museum)
  • Thanksgiving Mass and celebration
  • Weekend student-led Masses (monthly)
  • Dia de los Muertos Altar

Family Involvement

Every family contributes time on campus, helping with playground supervision, classroom projects, and athletics. Beyond volunteer hours, parents participate in community events such as the Lenten Night and seasonal celebrations, helping their children see that school life is a family commitment as much as a student one.
