Middle School

Forming Hearts. Sharpening Minds Grades 6th-8th

Empowering students to explore, learn, and grow in a caring Catholic community.

The middle school years are filled with big questions, bold growth, and real opportunity. At OLPH Glendale, students in grades 6–8 don’t just prepare for high school — they discover who they are. In a community rooted in Catholic values, they’re challenged to think critically, act with integrity, and grow in faith alongside peers and mentors who believe in them.

At Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School, we know that choosing the right middle school is one of the most important decisions a family can make. Parents of 6th–8th graders come to us with real questions — about academics, faith, friendships, and the kind of person their child is becoming.

Those questions matter to us too. Our middle school in Glendale, AZ is a community where students are known by name, challenged with purpose, and supported every step of the way — academically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Program Details

At Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School in Glendale, Arizona, our middle school program for grades 6th–8th builds on the strong Catholic foundation students develop in our elementary years. As a Roman Catholic school, we partner with families to educate the whole child — academically, spiritually, and personally — preparing students not just for high school, but for a lifetime of faithful leadership.

Learning Environment

Middle school is a season of growth — and challenge. As pre-teens learn to navigate relationships, identity, and conflict, our dedicated faculty walk alongside them every step of the way. Through our Living Curriculum and faith-centered community, we guide students to

Honor themselves and each other.

Building on the foundational values of our elementary program, middle school students deepen their respect for self, others, and authority — learning what it truly means to treat people with dignity.

Form authentic relationships.

Collaborative learning, athletic teams, and a faith-filled worldview help students build healthy, meaningful friendships as they seek belonging and understanding.

Develop character.

Kindness. Honesty. Trustworthiness. Loyalty. Through weekly Mass, the Rosary, Eucharistic Adoration, service projects, and mentorship, students live out their Catholic values in practical, everyday ways.

Make wise choices.

Social pressures are real in the middle school years. Our Catholic-centered curriculum, small group sessions, and close-knit community keep students grounded as they discover who they are.

Academic Excellence

Our middle school curriculum is intentionally challenging — designed to build the skills and habits students need to succeed in high school and beyond. Core subjects include Religious Education (instructed by our Deacons), English Language Arts, Social Studies, Mathematics, and Science. Students rotate through classes and teachers, mirroring the structure of High school and building independence along the way.

Leadership is woven into the middle school experience. Students can serve as altar servers, organize student-led Masses, pray the Angelus, and say grace before lunch. These opportunities develop confidence, responsibility, and servant leadership.

Specialty classes in art, music, and physical education give students space to explore their passions. After-school clubs — including STEM, LEGO Robotics, Drama Club, and Jr. Chef — expand learning beyond the classroom and encourage curiosity, creativity, and collaboration.

OLPH Knights compete in baseball, basketball, flag football, soccer, softball, and volleyball. Our basketball court and open field are proud gathering spots where students, families, and staff come together to cheer each other on.

There’s no better way to experience OLPH than in person. Schedule a tour and see firsthand how our middle school community nurtures faith, academic excellence, and the whole child — one grade at a time.

High School Preparation & Daily Life

The school day runs from 7:45 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with seven class periods covering core content and specialties. Each Wednesday, the school community gathers for Mass. On Fridays, students participate in Eucharistic Adoration, and on the last Friday of each month, the community prays the Rosary together.

Students learn by doing. Throughout the school year, middle schoolers enjoy field trips that bring their curriculum to life and broaden their perspectives beyond the classroom.

Our after-school program is designed to meet the needs of busy families while expanding opportunities in athletics, academics, fine arts, and enrichment. Clubs give students a place to belong, grow, and lead.

Student safety is our highest priority — emotionally and physically. All staff undergo thorough background checks, and all campus visitors are required to check in. We maintain clear, well-communicated policies on bullying and social media use, so students and families always know where we stand.

“Middle School at OLPH is a season of discovery, where faith and learning grow side by side and curiosity is encouraged every day.”
